Adams was a seventh year old living in Castle Rock Colorado. In the mid-1990s she began performing professionally and dancing with Boulder's Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Then she was in Minnesota in a small local theatre she was selected to play a role in an unrealized documentary film about beauty pageants called Drop Dead Gorgeous. Following her successful screen debut where she played an obnoxious but friendly contestant, Janet relocating to Los Angeles where she began an acting career professionally.
