It was at Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she scored one of the most unforgettable moments in sports history and that was the very first perfect 10 for the asymmetrical bar. She went on to achieve another perfect 10 which made her the most youthful Olympic all-around gold medalist at just 14 years old. She has not only attracted attention from all angles however she also assisted Romania get a foothold in the world map. In achieving an unachievable result, the sporting icon created an iconic image and helped promote gymnastics throughout the world. The perception of women athletes also changed due to her performance. Her performance at the Olympics was so profound that her toe step (release) and the toe step were both named after her in the event's uneven bars. Also, she performed very well in World Championships, European Championships as well as the Olympics. This led to her becoming a legend and she is one of the best gymnasts across the world. In the US she tried to promote sports products and model following her departure from her home country.
